On the 11th, Brian, Katharine and I set off for a holiday in Norway. We spent a wonderful week in a place called Lyngseidet which is East of Tromsø. We had a fantastic time cross country skiing, a days dog sledding were lucky enough to view the Northern Lights.
The 'cabin' we stayed in was very cosy and luxurious - right on the side of the fyord with just the most incredible views of the fyord and the surrounding mountains. As we were in the town, we got to watch the ebb and flo of life - such as the coming and going of the ferry and the almost constant snow ploughs.
We were very glad about the cosiness of the cabin as the temperatures ranged from a comparatively mild -5C to a distinctly freezing -28C (dog sledging farm). Athough it normally hovered around the -10 in Lynseidet. The weather was just right for the cold clear nights which meant the Aurora was one of (the?) most amazing and beautiful thing I've ever seen. So, all in all, a pretty good time!
